Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Barry, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is displayed in British Pounds (£), inclusive of VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
4. Car Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting the vehicle, conduct a detailed inspection to identify and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was received, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and fees will be applied as necessary. The vehicle should also be returned with the fuel level that matches the collection point; failure to do so will result in refueling charges. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be held accountable for any parking tickets, traffic infringements, or charges accrued during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals from Barry include basic third-party insurance. The specifics of coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damages or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is in place. Any damage from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Keep in mind that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges. Be sure to review these details to avoid unexpected fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Barry Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount paid for your rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of their courts.
Updates to Terms
Barry reserves the right to alter these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
